Fundraising for my daughter’s operation!

I have only found out this week that my eldest daughter, Krystie, has a Pineal Cystic brain tumour.

My beautiful daughter Krystie.

She has started a Facebook page for the journey she is about to undertake, and also has an Instagram page.

You can read all about her journey here, on her new Facebook page.

I have decided that as a way to help fundraising, I am going to donate 50% of my sales of my PDF patterns and Designz Club subscriptions, to help her raise some money towards her treatment.

It may be up to a year before she can get the operation, as her health fund is making her wait til they will pay anything towards the operation, which is going to cost over $100,000. Until then she is starting to fundraise to get money to help pay the rest.

We live 2400 kilometres apart and i’m not financially able to travel to see her, so fundraising for her is my way of helping out, even just a little.

So starting NOW, for every Designz Club subscription and Designz PDF pattern sold, 50% goes into a fundraising account.

If you ever wanted to buy a pattern from me, now is the time.

As her Mum, I am beside myself with worry, about the outcome, and being so far way I feel helpless.

So please if you can help, that would be beyond amazing.

Thanks so much

My Instagram account was hacked!

Get 2 factor Authentication or this might happen to you!

I have been trying for the last couple of weeks to get Instagram to take notice of me and get my hacked account back to me.

Unfortunately today the scum that hacked my account has started posting porn videos.

I have added a photo below of my hacked account so everyone can see that it’s not me doing this disgusting and vile stuff.

They have kept my Designz by Nancy Stroop name and logo but changed the username, password and email, so I have no way to access my own account.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I would never post such filth.

So I am asking that you all please follow my new account and know that I am trying my hardest to get Instagram to sort this out.

Please report the hacked account or the porn post as it may get Instagrams attention if numerous people do it.

If they close the account, I’d rather that than having to have my good business reputation tarnished by this scum of a person.

So please report, unfollow the hacked account and please follow my new account, shown below. https://www.instagram.com/designzbynancystroop/

Thanks everyone, I hope you understand that this is definitely out of my control.

Sincerely

Nancy

Harrison Laptop Bag PDF is live!

The 2nd PDF release for 2019, is the Harrison Laptop Bag.

Harrison is a slim laptop bag, named after my youngest son.

The bag in the photo above is the one I made for myself and I use it everyday.

Whether you’re a small business owner, a student or a stay at home parent, this laptop bag is for you.

The bag can be made for guys and girls, it just depends on the fabric you choose.

It will easily carry up to a 15.6” laptop, charger and mouse, with room to spare.

Large zip pocket in the lining for USB’s or pens etc.

Instructions are written for cotton fabrics, but you could substitute cork or similar if you want.

The bag is soft, yet still gives your laptop protection, with foam in the panels.

No drop in lining. and easy to follow, detailed instructions

The bag measures: 39.5cm W x 28.5cm H x 5cm D
(15 1/2” W x 11 1/4” H x 2” D)

Below is an example of the bag made using cork for the body and polyester webbing on the straps.

All pattern pieces are included in the PDF, and there are even extra pattern pieces for Fusible Fleece, so cutting these is made easier.

You don’t just have to make these bags in cotton fabric either, I have made them using cork accents, and substituted the fabric straps with polyester webbing. Changed up the straps and used different hardware. You really are only limited by your imagination and creativity. (See Ideas to Inspire post)

These bags have all been designed to mix and match, and would be a great addition to anyone’s travel essentials.

Please Note: Each bag has been created individually, using similar elements. The patterns for each bag are NOT just enlarged pieces.

This pattern was first created by me, over 2 years ago, but at the time, I needed more bag design experience, so put it aside. Now it’s ready and just waiting for you to buy.

The pattern has just been released, and is already proving very popular with Designz Club members, as they get access to new releases prior to general release.

Designz Club member’s get 50% discount on my patterns everyday. including new releases.

Bobbie Bowler Bag Ideas to Inspire

I thought I’d share some more ideas for you to create my new pattern, The Bobbie Bowler Bag Collection.

The pattern will be released Friday 22nd Feb (tonight) at around 8pm (Qld time).

Designz Club members can access the pattern NOW!

I made some with other materials and also modified the straps on one of the examples.

This first one I used cotton drill for the exterior, cork for the gussets and polyester webbing straps. I also used D rings on the straps, to give it a different look.

I love this fabric and saved it for this bag.

This is the Midi size.

Next up is a very special bag.

I made this one in a stunning Marilyn cotton fabric. I used cork for the contrasts and straps.

To give it some added bling, I used Diamond Strap Anchors from Emmaline,

I love how it turned out.

As the bags don’t have drop in linings, they are easy to make and I love the way the finished bags look.

These are just two ideas to inspire your creativity, when making the Bobbie Bowler Bag Collection.

So c’mon, join Designz Club now, to receive great member benefits, including 50% off my PDF’s everyday.

Let’s try this again!

I’m back…..

After a lot of time and effort I’m back.

The Craftsy issue prompted me to start up my website again, but there were issues, lots of issues. I chose what I thought was a good plan, with a supposedly reputable company, with what I needed for my online shop, but sadly I was not happy with what it wasn’t able to do. Needless to say I had to close it within 2 weeks of opening, due to all the issues.                                      That’s a whole other story, for another time.

A lot of help

Anyway, I have had the help of an amazing person I’m fortunate to know, we’re even related, my awesome cousin Gordon, who has helped me get my website up and running again. I don’t have words to Thank him enough for the time he has given me to help me get started again.

What’s in my store!

I’m keeping it simple and basic for now until I get used to it, and as I get better I may add bits here and there.

I wanted to add my patterns first, and as I can I will add my ready made bags, wallets and accessories to my store.

You can use Paypal and Stripe as payment options no matter where you live. I also have Bank Transfer as an option for my Australian customers.

I hope to add Afterpay too, but that is being worked on. I have it, just need to work out how to add it here.

As of January 1st the prices for my patterns increased.

I have held back charging what I should have for over 2 1/2 years, but the time came for me to bring my prices into line with other designers.

If you’ve ever bought my patterns, you already know they have a lot of detail, all the pattern pieces and more.

I’m gradually getting around to the revamping of my older patterns too, but like a fine wine, it takes time. When I do re-release a pattern I will let you all know.

Stock Clearance

I’ll also have some stock clearance, which are excess fabrics, haberdashery and bits and pieces which I need to clear out of my shipping container.

I’ll even add some paper patterns from brands such as Simplicity, Vogue, Butterick etc which are all new and unopened.

There are even loads of vintage and out of print patterns that I have that I need gone, too many to check if they have all their pieces or not. These are in various condition but if you’re OK with ‘pot luck’ then these will be for you.

Shipping

I have a $15 Flat Rate for shipping in Australia on physical items, but if you spend $150 or more shipping is FREE.

I’m not currently shipping physical items to other countries.

Designz Sewing Patterns Facebook Group

I have a support group on Facebook for people who like my patterns, and have made or want to make them. You can share what you have made from my patterns, ask questions about my patterns, or just sit back and look at what’s happening. I share upcoming pattern releases and news, we are all a friendly bunch.

If you’d like to join the group you can request to join.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/DesignzSewingPatterns/

Members of my Facebook group also have an everyday 40% discount on my patterns via a coupon code.

You need to join my group to get the code.

More to come…

I’m always designing, and new patterns will be released throughout the year. I hope to add lots more exciting things to my website in the coming months, so please keep coming back to see what’s new.
